With the closure of its stores and the slowdown in sales as the corona virus epidemic continues, Macy’s said he would maintain “the absolute minimum number necessary to maintain basic operations”.
In a press release, she said it means that the “majority” of the 125,000 employees will continue to work early in the week.
Affected staff will continue to receive health care.
Macy’s said there will be “fewer licenses in our digital business, support for distribution centers and call centers so that we can continue to serve our customers online.”
Macy’s, which also owns Bloomingdales and Bluemercury, lost 3%. That’s a 70% drop for this year.
